Terms of Use
1. Purpose
These terms set out the conditions for using lab.ascii (the “service”) and the rights and duties of users and the operator. By using the service, you agree to these terms.
2. The service
- The service is a web tool that turns text and images into ASCII art and lets you copy the result or download it as a TXT or PNG file.
- Every feature is free and needs no account. Running costs are covered by advertising.
- Conversion happens inside your browser, without uploading your text or images for processing. The Privacy Policy explains sharing, support messages, and older shared links.
3. Your responsibilities
- You must hold the rights you need (copyright, trademark, image rights, and so on) to the images you add and the text you type. Do not make or distribute results that infringe someone else’s rights.
- Do not use the results to harass or deceive others, or for any purpose that breaks the law.
- Do not use the service in abnormal ways, such as automated bulk requests, or interfere with its operation.
4. Ownership of results
Existing rights in the text and images you provide remain with their respective owners. Using the service does not give the operator additional rights in your input or results. When using or distributing a result, you must follow the rights and terms that apply to the original content, fonts, and gallery art. The service does not guarantee commercial-use rights for every result.
FIGlet fonts, display fonts, gallery text art, and kaomoji may be subject to third-party rights and terms. The source or individual terms of some FIGlet fonts and gallery entries have not been verified. Widespread sharing alone does not establish unrestricted permission. Rights in the site’s original design, logo, guides, and software belong to their respective owners, and open-source components retain their applicable licenses.
5. Limits of liability
- The service is provided as is, with no guarantee that it will produce the result you want for every text, image, or device.
- Results can look different depending on the font and screen width of the app you paste them into. Unless caused by intent or gross negligence, the operator is not liable for loss that results from using a result without checking it.
- Closing or reloading the tab clears your work, except for content restored from shared links and temporary image handoffs described in the privacy policy. Unless caused by intent or gross negligence, the operator is not liable for loss that results from losing work in progress.
- Advertisers are responsible for the content of their ads and the sites those ads lead to.
6. Changes and interruptions
The operator may change the features of the service, or suspend it temporarily or permanently for maintenance, outages, or operational reasons. Important changes will be announced on the site in advance where possible.
7. Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the updated version and its effective date will be posted on this page. Continuing to use the service after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and disputes related to the service are resolved in the court with jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
These terms are effective as of September 30, 2026.
