About the Shadow font
Glenn Chappell made Shadow in 1993 from Standard and SmShadow. It draws an extra layer of | and _ on the right and bottom of each letter, like light falling at an angle.
It is only four lines tall, but the shadow makes it wide: “HELLO” takes 34 columns. It is a nice way to dress up a short word. lab.ascii uses the figlet.js version, which adjusted the width of the space character in 2007.
Works well for
Short words with a bit of depth, and blog post titles.
